DIRECTIONS
From Route 6, the "Mid-Cape Highway" Lakefield Farms is a convenient 2 miles south of Exit 63. Most of the neighborhood is bordered by Great Hill Road and Race Lane; some homes are located between Newtown Road (which leads south about 3 miles to Rt.28 in Cotuit) and Race Lane(which runs southeast about 5 miles to Rt.28 in Centerville). It is adjacent to the Rolling Ridge development and across from the Ridge Club Golf Course. Two other golf courses are within two miles of us: Holly Ridge and the Barnstable Fairgrounds Golf Course.
SCHOOLS
Pre-k to Grade 2 children here attend Forestdale Elementary, then Oak Ridge School for Grades 3-6, then Sandwich High which also houses STEM Academy for Grades 7 and 8.
Sandwich students may also enroll in Upper Cape Technical High School in Bourne. Serving over 700 students from 5 towns, it offers classes in 15 vocational areas.
PRIVATE SCHOOLS: some students may choose to attend Falmouth Academy, or Cape Cod Academy in Osterville. In past years, the Science Fair at Falmouth Academy has been mentored by scientists from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution.
STURGIS: Some may attend the highly competitive Sturgis Charter Public School in Hyannis which offers the highly regarded International Baccalaureate program.
CATHOLIC: Saint JohnPaul II serves Catholic students in Grades 5-12 on the Cape.
BEACH
We have a private, sandy beach on Lawrence Pond (LF beach passes are checked for admission) and are only a few miles from salt water beaches on Cape Cod Bay such as Sandy Neck Beach and East Sandwich Beach. Lakefield Farms is a neat, comfortable, quiet community consisting of both families and retired couples.
SERVICES
Lakefield Farms is served by Town water, although some owners have wells. Underground utilities, which include natural gas, Comcast digital cable TV and Internet, & Verizon DSL, add to the attractive quality of our neighborhood. The Stop & Shop Supermarket, CVS Pharmacy and other shops are located about 3 miles away, heading toward Forestdale and downtown Sandwich. The Heritage Movie Theaters are a short distance past the Stop & Shop, as are restaurants, hardware stores and other businesses.
CLUBHOUSE
Our clubhouse, located at 21 Great Hill Road, has a private beach on Lawrence Pond, with a tennis court, picnic area and boat ramp. The private clubhouse is well-maintained and available to owners (only) to rent for parties and functions for which they are present to host. See the photo tour from our home page. It is not rented to those living outside of our neighborhood. All those living here pay an annual assessment. These "dues" pay for staffing and maintenance of the common areas. No one else may "join" our Clubhouse or use our beach and tennis facilities(unless a guest of and with a property owner). These facilities exist only to benefit homeowners in Lakefield Farms.
ASSESSMENTS
Lakefield Farms Trust is serious about collecting our annual assessments. Homeowners who are in arrears may have liens placed on their property, liens which must be certified as being paid prior to sales or remortgaging. These liens "follow the land"; see our Trust Documents for details. Unpaid assessments are charged interest and may also be charged collection fees. All Realtors® and lawyers are advised to contact us for important details on any property they represent as early as possible to obtain a Certificate of No Assessment from our Office. Our Trust's Office Manager keeps office hours part-time at the Clubhouse. Please call ahead for an appointment to view the Clubhouse. At other times, you may leave messages on the Clubhouse office machine at 508-428-8568.
